Evening Sun

Welcome to the warmth, community, and place of Örtagårdstorget, which is constantly buzzing with life and movement. In the glow of the evening sun and the pink-tinted sky, tranquility and harmony are reflected. It is an observation of the daily life that is always ongoing, where the sun always shines and provides strength through the changing seasons.

The painting portrays four individuals who embody different themes and stories. The woman personifies all mothers who keep life going. She carries a handful of herbs, where scents of mint, parsley, and coriander await. The woman cherishes the key, a symbol of memory and home, which remains alive through generations. A key to the legacy of the past and a care for the heart of the home. A third hand creates magic.

The birds, doves, take possession of the square. They symbolize hope and freedom and nurture memories of those who are no longer here. In the background, cherry blossoms have bloomed in full, taking us back to childhood. They tell a story from a young person, when going to school was difficult. Back then, there was a tree with a protective crown, a place to seek comfort and reflection, to feel less alone.

The boy turns his face towards the sun, letting its rays warm him. He wears boxing gloves around his neck, and on his chest are the numbers 213, the postal code of the place. Training that requires endurance, discipline, and rhythm. In the gym, there are others, where thoughts and experiences can be shared, and support, inspiration, and presence can be offered when extra support is needed. Finding security in a role model to look up to, someone who can provide the courage to face the future, to find one's passion.

A father sits in a sun chair while his daughter draws a picture next to him. He personifies all young fathers. The motif is inspired by an event in the area and a story about young parenthood and cherished family ties. A moment shared in the greenery, where play and football can be enjoyed, a warm cup of tea creates calm and peace, and the daughter's drawing, where the clouds fly outside – everything is possible, in the glow of the evening sun.

The artwork's palette is carefully chosen to match the colors of the surroundings, from nature and architecture. The style is mixed, a symbiosis between realism and symbolism with Chilean roots that creates an exciting flow in the motifs. The sharp lines frame the variations of color fields, and each person is distinct, with pronounced gestures. Together with realism, dissolved forms, emotions, and gazes, a completely unique style in mural painting has been developed.

Social Art Project has collaborated with those who live and reside in Rosengård to create this artwork. Through interviews, observations, and interpretations, a shared vision has emerged, and Rosengård Konstförening has developed themes based on the collected material. Social Art Project is a co-creative art project that exchanges ideas with artists, muralists, and young creators from Chile, where La Calera has become a sister city.
